VISHWANATHAN ANAND BECOMES THE WORLD CHAMPION

Vishwanathan anand has become the world champion by defeating boris gelfand at moscow on may 31st 2012.the first 12 games ended with 6-6 which led  tie-breaker. first tie-breaker became a draw.second tie-breaker in which anand striked back and won.the third also ended with a draw.the fourth tie-breaker became a draw and anand's world champion. Anand held the FIDE World Chess Championship from 2000 to 2002, at a time when the world title was split. He became the undisputed World Champion in 2007 and defended his title against Vladimir Kramnik in 2008. He then successfully defended his title in the World Chess Championship 2010 against Veselin Topalov. Anand is one of six players in history to break the 2800 mark on the FIDE rating list, and in April 2007 at the age of 37, he became the world number one for the first time. 1] Chess is called the game of kings, because for many centuries it was played primarily by nobility and the upper classes. 2] The Isle of Lewis chess pieces are the oldest surviving complete chess set known. Discovered on they Isle of Lewis, they are made from walrus tusks and show their characters in a range of bad moods - from anger to depression. 3] The rook is named from an Arabic word rukh, meaning chariot. This reflects its ability to move quickly in straight lines, but not leap over obstacles.
